N.E.F.R.A. In 4-Way match4e way match team
In a Four-Way match against three other local clubs the team succeeded in winning third prize overall and would like to thank Pilling Moss Gundog Club for hosting the event. N.E.F.R.A. are to host it in 2011

A proud breeder
Two 'Maddistream' litter mates worked to the prizes in the South-West area working test last weekend. Proud breeder Gill Awty watched as her husband handled their puppy Jazz Purple Lake to 1st prize and Caroline Hewison's puppy Tarn Indigo Jack to 3rd.
 
Jackie Winder
The N.E.F.R.A. committee would like to pass on their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Jackie Winder who was a very active member of the Association. Jackie's funeral was on the 28th April.

More obedience news
Congratulations to Jane Hedges won her first beginners obedience class with 'Lily' (Satinbaze Water Lily) last Sunday. This was at the at the 'GSD (Alsatian) Club of the UK' Open Obedience Show.
As Jane and Lily also won a second prize in the pre-beginners class she has earned the points to get obedience letters after her name... she is now Satinbaze Water Lily P-Beg Ex
AND... After a run-off Sally Collins and 'Summer' came fouth in the Novice class at the same show.

Congratlations and good luck to Sally Collins and her dog 'Summer' (Rainesgift Summer Thyme At Steeplehouse J.W. ) who have been picked for the Midlands Team in the Crufts inter regional obedience competitions.

Lost just before Christmas
Two dogs dear to many people were lost just before Christmas, firstly Gill Smithermann lost her dog 'Jacob' (Sh Ch Benvellyn Nephrite Jade of Seaheart) through illness, he was 8 years old. Shortly after this, whilst on holiday on the Isle of Wight, Chris & Caroline Hewison tragically lost their 2 year old bitch 'Inca' (Casblaidd Little Linnet). She was lost suddenly when a car struck her.
Both dogs will be greatly missed.

Friends Reunited
Lorraine Cross was recently reunited with her dog 'Castra' after a year apart. Lorraine is still on crutches and unable to drive following a horrible 10 months in hospital. Castra has recently been staying with Jenny Donnelly but is now at home.
Lorraine has employed a dog walker but is grateful for any canine and human visitors.

Show Certificate of Merit & BIS for Keeper.
Congratulations to Serena and Roy Green. Their dog Hertarns Dr Pepper had a memorable day at Merseyside Gundog Open Show, winning BOB which gave him his final point for his Sh CM. Keeper then went by winning AV Veteran and BIS!

Loss of N.E.F.R.A.'s Patron
We are sorry to report the recent passing of Lady Sylvia Crathorne, N.E.F.R.A.'s Patron, after a brave battle against cancer. A memorial service was held at York Minster on October 15. Read her obituary in the Yorkshire Post here.

N.E.F.R.A.'s Cold Game Training Day was fun!
Many thanks to Philip and Elaine Whittaker (Falconcliffe) for their hospitality in Derbyshire where we had a full day's training and a superb stew! The training day finished with an informal test which was won by Caroline Hewison handling her 6 month- young puppy Maddistream Indigo Jack at Casblaidd.

The breed stand in the gundog pavillion was hosted by Chris & Caroline Hewison and Steve and Kate Jubb where many visitors learnt about the breed and had a chance to meet their dogs.

June & Koko victorious in Midlands Novice Working Test
June Brocklesby from Wakefield handled her 4 year old liver bitch Jewel of Rourki from Brockslot to win first prize in a field of 33 dogs at Wishaw. Well done June and good luck in your open tests.
